ABSTRACT
Will Hunting is a charismatic young rebel. He has no father and mother and has had a very hard childhood. Went through many foster homes and was sometimes abused. Now he lives alone in suburban Boston and every morning takes the train to go to work in one of the most prestigious universities. Belongs to the housekeeping staff of the Faculty of Mathematics. Then go home and ride out with friends who, like him, are problematic. They are dedicated to going to bars getting drunk and then go to pick a fight. In one of these fights Will is arrested by the police.
So far so normal, but is that Will has a knack for math. Since childhood he has been reading many books by different authors from all branches of knowledge. This will help to train and get their own ideas and conclusions, and develop a strong personality. In fact in trials is representing himself and not to bad results.
In college Will solves a math problem nobody could solve. Then the math teacher is looking for him and finds Will in prison. After a talk with the judge the teacher convinces him to let the boy free at your own risk and under the condition that he see a psychiatrist. Will then out of jail and encouraged him to study mathematics.
Will accept what to study mathematics but do not like going to a psychiatrist. In the sessions continuously mocks them to the point that no psychiatrist wants to deal with it. In fact, even lead you to a session with a hypnotist but the meeting ends without results. Then the math teacher uses an old friend who studied with in college. Sean is the teacher, a psychiatrist. With attitude Will he change strongly, and is the first person that really expresses his feelings.
Will suddenly begins to feel pressure from various sides: First, the math teacher sent him to numerous job interviews for large enterprises, but Will not go to the interviews, because he does not want that kind of work would win gift large sums of money, he wants to continue living his simple life in the poor neighborhood of Boston, second the girl that comes out is going to study in California and Will proposes to accompany you. It's the first girl he begins to have a more or less serious and the first has awakened the feeling of love in him. But Will's fear of abandonment and put on the defensive preventing people entering your life before you can do damage, so it breaks with her in last place his best friend tells her not to be stupid, with your intelligence can succeed in life and get a great job and do not waste that opportunity.
Professor Sean invites him to act as prompted by the heart and ignore what others say. Then the math teacher and teacher Sean have a long discussion because as a mathematician, Sean is inviting Will to waste great job and throw your life away. Will finally pays attention to his beloved psychiatrist, and march to California in search of his girl.
COMMENT
Is an American film of the most recent. Perhaps his most striking feature is the great originality of the script, something that had never been written. Matt Damon (Will) and Ben Affleck (Will's friend) wrote the script for the boy who lives in suburban Boston and has a knack for math.
Moreover, the film features a great cast with great figures like Robin Williams (Professor Sean) and great promise for themselves then as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Will is a guy who has spent a tough childhood, traveling from home to home as a foster child and has been abused. Possibly these abuses is formed hard character of Will, who have suffered great emotional deprivation in childhood and now it will not let anyone get too close so it can not hurt. Moreover Will not read a lot of books all of which is able to memorize its contents. From them, he will develop his personality so self-taught.
The math teacher who delivers the prison Will discovers the great capacity of this and tries every means to form and take advantage of its great qualities to succeed in life. The same teacher is recognized less than Will in their math skills and try to encourage Will continuously so you can enjoy, but Will refuses because he wants to live a simple life, for their skills are more like a hobby. This causes frustration in their own teacher to the point that I wish I had known.
Note the presence of Oscar winner Robin Williams stars as psychiatrist Will, Professor Sean. Performs a role similar to that done in "Dead Poets Society" and reliving the myth of "Carpe diem."
Will have some friends who, like him, come from the slums and whose only philosophy in life is to have an easy job, let them go in the evenings to get drunk at bars and then pick a fight. With this way of life Will is happy and wants nothing.
But Will begins to feel pressured by the math teacher who wants to find a great job, his girl (played by Minnie Driver), which quire to strengthen their relationship. Here comes the crucial aspect of the film is the lack of affection Will a child who suffers because of the ill-treatment. Is unable to pass to a greater degree of confidence in their relationships for fear of pain and prevents him implement his ideas and initiatives on its own. This, in my view, is the most important moment of the movie where the professor Sean has a major role. He is the only one who gets that Will is freed from his past of abuse that prevents you from approaching people for fear of being hurt, to stop and his fictional world and start taking their own initiatives and decisions. Will teaches that love is something wonderful and that life should always follow what your heart tells you. Also your best friend also invited to go there because he is not like them and be a great future awaits you.
All this makes Will rectify their behavior and ignores the teachings of Professor Sean, obey what his heart tells him and goes in search of the girl he loves.
It's a film with a correct interpretation of the authors and scenes of great emotion for the viewer. Personally, the most important ideas that the movie gives us is that we form our personality for ourselves (not what you read a book or a teacher ...) to develop our own ideas and initiatives, and we must always obey the guidance that we issued our hearts.
